“This model must surely rank as the most fully-detailed highest specification mass-produced locomotive to date. It simply bristles with separately applied details and pipework… and it is clear that meticulous research has gone into the development of this model, resulting in a superb 4mm scale loco that pleases the eye and performs like a dream.”

“The SLW Class 24 looks the part, runs very well, and is probably the best off-the-shelf ‘OO’ gauge model we have ever seen. This model has truly raised the bar for British outline locomotives and is simply unbeatable in terms of ‘bang for your buck’.
“For the record, the DCC Sound examples are simply the finest 4mm scale models we have heard. Two mobile phone speakers give excellent bass response to the many different aspects of the sound project.
“It is one thing for a model to look good and sound authentic but does its performance match? Suffice to say that the SLW Class 24 runs as good as it looks. Careful design in the transmission means that running is quite exemplary. It managed a record-breaking 21 Pullman cars around the Loft layout at Pecorama, which features 36 inch radius curves and a 1 in 48 gradient.”

“The quality of the sounds are amazing and capture not only the slow laboured Sulzer throb but provide the versatility of also allowing you to take complete control of the engine sounds irrespective of speed.”
HORNBY MAGAZINE
“This model is something special – an extraordinary recreation of an ordinary hard working locomotive to a standard that we all aspire to own. The combination of its chassis design, stunning detail and outstanding sound performance makes this a highly desirable model and the most authentic Sulzer Type 2 we have seen yet in any scale.
“The model is delivered with an outstanding level of detail including lavishly detailed bogies, fully populated bufferbeams and a cab which looks like you could step inside – it really is that good! Sublime paint quality in all areas makes the exquisitely produced body moulding look even better.
“It is worth noting that the SLW Class 24 is also the first ever ready-to-run locomotive to be offered with a choice of wheelsets fitted. You can have ‘OO’, ‘EM’ or ‘P4’ wheels installed before delivery, showing more of what it is possible at this level of production.”

“The performance is equally stunning – it has brought a new level of enjoyment to operating my railway. Straight out of the tin and running on my P4 layout, it performed faultlessly on undulating track and can haul a 9-coach train up the 1 in 42 gradient with ease. It’s the loco all my friends and operators wanted to drive!”

BRITISH RAILWAY MODELLING
“Diesel and electric era modellers have consistently asked for greater accuracy, better sound and detailing… and here we have a product that delivers.
“I have to say it is the best ready-to-run British sound-equipped locomotive I have heard to date, with the pair of SLW-branded speakers sounding very good indeed.
“The locomotive runs beautifully; it is smooth and assured thanks to the weight of the chassis, with all four axles driven plus flywheels to ensure consistent performance.”
